    The Chinese Delegation to the 31st MOP of the Montreal Protocol hosts a side event themed "Facing the Challenge, China in Action"

    The 31st Meeting of Parties to the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer was convened in Rome, Italy, during November 4-8, 2019. The Chinese  delegation held a side event themed "Facing the Challenge, China in Action" on the first day, aiming at enhancing information exchange with parties and jointly addressing the unexpected increase in global emissions of Trifluorochloromethane (CFC-11). About 130 participants from major parties including the United States, Japan, the European Union, Canada, Australia, India and Argentina, as well as the Ozone Secretariat, the Multilateral Fund Secretariat and relevant international agencies attended the event.

    At the event, the delegation gave a comprehensive introduction to China's overall action measures to address the CFC-11 issue, the findings of law enforcement actions and the future action plan, and answered questions regarding the results of law enforcement inspection and sharing of atmospheric monitoring data in the future. Representatives of Zhejiang Juhua Co., Ltd introduced the phase-out and substitution action and management measures on ozone-depleting substances (ODS) of the company. The World Bank introduced ODS production sector inspection. China's implementation and enforcement video was played and publicity materials disseminated at the meeting. The side event was widely recognized and highly commended by parties and international organizations, demonstrating China's contribution as a responsible country and its firm confidence in the implementation of the Protocol.
